Powder Pink

Dear all,

I haven't posted for weeks because I have been busy with my graphic design course here at Central St. Martins in London. The past three weeks have been ever so amazing and the tutors extremely inspiring in every away. As you all are aware, I really enjoy design and seeing it from a graphics perspective has really opened my eyes to a whole new world! I learnt to use the software and feel that I have gained a strong foundation on which I will continue to built upon.  It has definitely become my new passion (yes, another one) & I will definitely be writing a post about my course in order to share some valid info for those who are interested in something similar! Unfortunately with the long course hours,  I hardly had time to update the site, hence here is a short but sweet coastal post of all things pink - inspired by Adidas Originals..

WHITE HOOD

Wow! It has been a while guys - but I'm back for now. I successfully finished V year of Med School so I'll have more time to dedicate to the site over the next couple of months. So yeah, sorry for laying low! However here is a most recent post for some inspiration. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed this shoot. Shout out to @delsolarein for taking shots that came out perfect!

It cannot be denied - old school streetwear is definitely making a comeback. Not only has street clothing been successfully revived in the world of high fashion by brands such as Vetements or Off White but also from the creation of many up and coming niche independent street wear designers. With the mixing of fashion and trends - street style has reached a point of no limit. Oversized cuts, mismatched prints, shirts worn as dresses...There is room for designers, influencers and newcomers. Some stick with the masses, others carve their own path - either way you can't say this trend hasn't been an original one..

With this in mind, I recently stopped by my local skate shop. Whilst browsing tees and hoodies instore, I simply couldn't resist this DGK one. I loved the print, the detailed lettering on the arm, plus with my recent white obsession - it was a definite must have.  I have always been a bit of a tomboy and sucker for the designs that many skate brands carry so in fashion all things sneaker, street style and skate related really catch my eye. No wonder that with the shop keepers quick thought of wearing this hood as a dress - I decided to make a purchase of it & that's how this shoot came about..

Homemade Morning Shooters

With January behind us already, it's time to give our mornings a little kick start & our immune system a boost with this ginger, lime & young barley shot!

Looks yummy but I wouldn't exactly sip it!;) Its the perfect shot - why should you take one? Quick rundown of the ingredients..

Ginger - It's physical appearance is not too pleasant but it can do you a lot of good! Ginger has anti-inflammatory function, lowers cholesterol levels, improves brain function and helps protect against Alzheimer's Disease - what's better, this is just the tip of the iceberg!  It can even be used to relieve nausea, protects against cancer & boosts your immunity!

Lime- With it's funky colour & vitamin C richness it's not only beneficial for your skin but for your whole body! It reduces your chance of scurvy, keeps the gatro-intensinal tract going due to its natural acidy as well as enhancement of hydrochloric acid secretion. It also helps to reduce blood pressure, lower your LDL cholesterol aka "the bad cholesterol" and even helps to regulate sugar absorption within the body - great for those who have issues with controlling their blood glucose. Furthermore, as an antioxidant it works on so many levels and looks after all your bodily organs! There's even more but surely this must be enough to convince you?!

Young Barley - this young grass is packed with plenty of vitamins and minerals such as calcium, copper magnesium & iron to name a few. On top of this, it aids in digestion by enhancing the production of hydrochloric acid in your stomach as well as due to its high fibre content. It's rich plant protein content makes it a popular choice amongst many fitness enthusiasts as an addition to smoothies & juices.

Recipe - shots for 2 -

-2 limes
-2-2.5 cm of fresh ginger (half a thumb)
-1 tsp. young barley powder

Squeeze the lime, grate the ginger finely & add the wheatgrass powder! Yes it's this simple. Try it out!!

Banana Oat Pancakes

Hey everyone, it has definitely been a while since we posted but we have had a very busy period. However now with (at least some of the) exams, deadlines & Christmas behind us - and a new year in front of us - we are back for good!

I hope you all had a great New Year and that this year will bring you all the joy you all deserve! Talking of things that make us happy - why don't we start with food?

Yes, I am definitely a pancake fiend! However I have to say I may have found the best recipe yet. It's simple, healthy & outrageously delicious - that 3in1 we all love to hear!

I recently tried out the flour free option - oats & bananas only and this was the result...

If you want to have a go at it yourself at home it's super simple!

Here is what you'll need:

Pancake base:

2 bananas
2 eggs
1/2 a cup of oats
1/2 a tsp of baking soda
pinch of salt

fruits/nuts (to serve)
maple syrup/honey/peanut butter (also to serve with)

1. Comibine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
2.Then take a spoonful of the mix and pour onto the pan, cook on both sides until bronzed & Voila~

As you can see I also placed slices of bananas in between the pancake layers for some extra sweetness but I have to say that the peanut butter did give these a nice little kick too ;)

Now, try and keep yourself from making those everyday - trust me it won't be easy!

What is Chia?

You may have come across these little seeds at the supermarket or in articles on the web. But what are they? What is Chia?

Only recently known to the mass market but these seeds have been around for thousands of years! Salvia Hispanica was cultivated by the ancient Aztecs of the 16th century.

Recently they have become widely available and popular among healthy lifestyle addicts (like us) as their nutritional value is immense. Packed with B vitamins as well as minerals such as Calcium & Magnesium to name a few, they seem to have the whole package.

I can't lie, the first time Alex & I tried to make a Chia pudding - it didn't go quite as planned. This was a while back, with little reference and without reading any articles or recipes we simply put some seeds in soya milk. Yep. Rookie error. We learnt from our mistake that proportions and timing are both key. Now I'm making a come back with all of the knowledge I've gained. Here is my recipe for my perfect Chia breakfast pudding. It's super easy to follow, so I'm sure you won't have any problems!

Ingredients:
Chia seeds
Banana
Goji berries
Cashew nuts/ Almonds /Nuts of choice
Milk of choice (Almond/Soya/Coconut)
Vanilla extract

The proportions: 1/2 a cup of Chia seeds to 2 cups of e.g. Almond milk

Method:
-Put 1/2 a cup of Chia seeds in a bowl.
-Add 2 cups of Almond/Coconut/Soya Milk (whichever you prefer) to the bowl.
-Add a teaspoon of Vanilla extract.
-Mix it all up and place in the fridge overnight so it's ready for your breaky (minimum 8 hours)!
-Add the toppings - here you can add whatever satisifies your taste buds. I love the combination of Goji berries with Banna hence those are my go to ingredients.

The taste of Chia is definitely something that takes getting used to. I love trying new things so I was up for the challenge, are you?
