Homemade Morning Shooters




With January behind us already, it's time to give our mornings a little kick start & our immune system a boost with this ginger, lime & young barley shot!


Looks yummy but I wouldn't exactly sip it!;) Its the perfect shot - why should you take one? Quick rundown of the ingredients..

Ginger - It's physical appearance is not too pleasant but it can do you a lot of good! Ginger has anti-inflammatory function, lowers cholesterol levels, improves brain function and helps protect against Alzheimer's Disease - what's better, this is just the tip of the iceberg!  It can even be used to relieve nausea,protects against cancer & boosts your immunity!

Lime- With it's funky colour & vitamin C richness it's not only beneficial for your skin but for your whole body! It reduces your chance of scurvy, keeps the gatro-intensinal tract going due to its natural acidy as well as enhancement of hydrochloric acid secretion. It also helps to reduce blood pressure, lower your LDL cholesterol aka "the bad cholesterol" and even helps to regulate sugar absorption within the body - great for those who have issues with controlling their blood glucose. Furthermore, as an antioxidant it works on so many levels and looks after all your bodily organs! There's even more but surely this must be enough to convince you?!

Young Barley - this young grass is packed with plenty of vitamins and minerals such as calcium, copper magnesium & iron to name a few. On top of this, it aids in digestion by enhancing the production of hydrochloric acid in your stomach as well as due to its high fibre content. It's rich plant protein content makes it a popular choice amongst many fitness enthusiasts as an addition to smoothies & juices.

Recipe - shots for 2 - 

-2 limes
-2-2.5 cm of fresh ginger (half a thumb)
-1 tsp. young barley powder

Squeeze the lime, grate the ginger finely & add the wheatgrass powder! Yes it's this simple. Try it out!!
